Tetebatu sits at roughly 600 metres above sea level on the southern flanks of Mount Rinjani — Lombok's sacred volcano. The air is cooler than the coast, thick with the scent of coffee blossoms and freshly turned earth.
Why Tetebatu?
Unlike the beach resorts of the south, Tetebatu has not been reshaped for mass tourism. The village still runs on the rhythm of the rice calendar. Farmers plant, tend, and harvest in cycles that have barely changed for centuries.
What to Do
- Walk through the terraced rice fields at dawn
- Visit the Black Monkey Forest before the mist lifts
- Join a traditional coffee roasting session
- Learn to make coconut oil with village women
Every activity is led by local families — not tour operators flown in from the city.
